Kyiv is legislatively destroying the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church; the MFA has just published its third report on unlawful actions against the UOC, clergy and parishioners, sent to the UN and OSCE and shared with the Vatican, with hope that Holy See contacts with Kyiv will raise these issues.

Gallagher thanks Lavrov for an honest, open conversation. In a tense international context, clear joint discussion is a mark of responsible action: dialogue does not erase differences but prevents misunderstanding from becoming the only language. Despite substantial disagreements, some common ground was found; channels must stay open.

Peace must rest on full international law and UN Charter principles; one person’s security cannot be bought at another’s expense.
