Lavrov opens by thanking Russians who marked his 75th birthday — including a marathon of his poems — and uses Channel One to address everyone he cannot thank individually. He singles out congratulations from the President, Government, Federal Assembly, colleagues, media partners (Channel One, Russia-1, Russia-24, TVC, NTV) and even TNT, which had never invited him but sent greetings. He keeps a thick folder of messages and promises to review them when time permits.

Asked about the Riyadh negotiations, Lavrov reports that teams are briefing Presidents Putin and Trump on preliminary results, as the two leaders agreed, with priority on safe navigation in the Black Sea. He stresses this is not the first attempt to address the issue and that current work follows the Putin–Trump understanding on expert-level coordination.

Lavrov recounts the July 2022 UN–Turkey package: eased Ukrainian grain exports with ship inspections to prevent arms smuggling, paired with an integral Russian memorandum on lifting barriers to Russian grain and fertilizer exports. The inspection mechanism worked a year; Russia then paused because the second part was sabotaged entirely — Lloyd's raised insurance rates, Rosselkhozbank was cut from SWIFT, and discounted Ukrainian grain flooded European markets.

Secretary-General Guterres and his envoys stay in contact but seek loopholes in Western sanctions instead of demanding their abolition, thereby executing capitals' decisions — which, Lavrov stresses, no UN official has the right to do under the Charter.

He cites agreeing to Erdogan's request on the Zaporozhye NPP, then Erdogan calling Putin to say Zelensky had 'changed his mind.' Russia now demands verifiable guarantees, not verbal promises.

Europe, by contrast, pursues the historical pattern of seeking Russia's strategic defeat while flooding Ukraine with weapons.

Lavrov highlights London and Paris — especially Starmer and Macron, backed by Baltic and other states — not only pledging more weapons but discussing coalitions to deploy peacekeeping or security missions in Ukraine, including troops from India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and even China under various flags. He treats these schemes as political fantasy and continuation of confrontation, not genuine peace.

Lavrov notes Biden's error in insisting on Ukraine's NATO path, creating unacceptable threats.

Lavrov points to laws banning the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Russian-language media, education and even speaking Russian during school breaks — while peacekeeping schemes would perpetuate this Russophobic order.

Asked how one negotiates when Putin agreed to a moratorium yet Kuban was struck the next day, Lavrov calls the Kyiv regime not merely non-negotiable but possessing a 'new quality' — openly doing harm in defiance of requests just accepted. On 11 March, after agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire, Kyiv launched a record 300–340 drones at central Russia including Moscow; the West swallowed it without protest.
