Full house translation — pending review Thank you very much for the greeting! To meet and speak, and to answer them more or less compactly, as a topic for discussion. One of the topics, but very important, I propose the topic of interethnic relations. A topic that for our country has always had very great significance. But one must admit that in recent, perhaps, several years, it has acquired special acuteness. And why? |
| 1 Interethnic Relations as Russia's Core Challenge | |
Full house translation — pending review Of course, our country has always been a country that was multi-ethnic and had its own problems. But in the Soviet period, all these problems were carefully retouched. Well, and, let's be frank, sometimes they were rather harshly suppressed. Today the country is different. This is good, because we are all different, we all ask each other different questions. But this creates its own difficulties. Because on the territory of Russia live 180 nationalities. Historical experiences of cooperation, it is, of course, unique for such a country, or, let's say so, such a federation as ours. No, when I am usually taught life by some foreign colleagues, this happens. They are all mentors. They tell us how we should better develop interethnic relations, democracy, the political system. They do not take into account one factor that is absent in many, if not in most countries. All their federations are, as a rule, mono-ethnic. And very rarely are they built according to such a national or quasi-national principle. And we have a different situation. And moreover, when our federal state was conceived back in the Soviet period, let's be honest, there was no federation at all. And Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, who, as is known, headed the Ministry of National Affairs for a period, did not want to build a federal state at all. But the shell, the form of a federal state, was used starting from the 20s. But today we have a real federation. And with this, among other things, are connected some problems of the development of this federation. A number of other problems have appeared. Life has become open. None of you, of course, remembers this institute. And I grew up under it. I will not write about the registration when it was simply impossible to register in another populated point if you did not have connections. Now you can go anywhere and register anywhere. And large flows began to migrate from one part of the country to another. We, naturally, also have a flow of migrants from Asian states. Internal migration. Unfortunately, not everyone who come is ready to integrate into life immediately. Because in one or another region, to adopt habits, customs. And, unfortunately, there are cases when such large human flows lead to the formation and creation of ethnic criminal groups. We cannot turn a blind eye to this. It is also not a secret that there is a retaliatory reaction of the population. It can be justified and unjustified. It can be justified and unjustified. It can be legal and absolutely illegal. Unfortunately, often all this even turns into a hunt for newcomers. Some of them are even killed. Moreover, usually the victims are, of course, not the bandits and not the leaders of ethnic criminal groups. They pursue their own interests. They are hidden. Everything is in order with them. And the most defenseless suffer. Unfortunately, there are other groups that do not suffer. Another process continues: the outflow of Russians from a fairly significant part of the regions. All this creates grounds for interethnic irritation, for tension. Although statistics on this topic is, in general, fairly well known. I can tell you that in 9 months of the current year, by foreign citizens, many people who could not commit 34 thousand and a half crimes. And against foreign citizens, about 10 thousand. On operational control in the Ministry of Internal Affairs are 55 ethnic criminal groups, various, and, of course, 7 of these groups have an extremist orientation. How should we respond to all this? To these challenges. But, I think, here the answer can be only one. To respond to all this, our state must be strong and must be united. I think, I can tell you that I had a rather heavy feeling when the Soviet Union collapsed. And not because I was such a supporter of socialist values. On the contrary. But when you feel how your homeland disappears, how it crumbles into pieces, this is a very heavy feeling. Therefore, I think that this is a very heavy feeling. Therefore, all criminals, extremists, separatists should not be divided along national lines. But they must be punished and should not feel protected by the law or by any groups. And, finally, the last thing: there should be a reasonable national policy. This is the most difficult. Because it is easier to talk about it, to write various kinds of concepts, sometimes useful, sometimes absolutely meaningless. But it is much harder to implement in practice. There should be modern education, everywhere, in all parts of our country. And the realization that our cultural experience, the experience of coexistence of different nations, is our wealth. And only if we are together we will be able to be strong in this global world. Especially since the whole world is uniting, not scattering into different places. And the best way to maintain such relations is dialogue. How to conduct it? |
Full house translation — pending review I would like to ask you, and what to do for this? |
| 6 Personal Stories of Interethnic Solidarity | |
Full house translation — pending review Even more so, because this is a cliché. But it is an absolute truth. The future belongs to you, and you will have to solve it. Literally in 5-10 years, the most acute problems facing our country must be solved in such a way as not to let our country sink into the abyss of all kinds of strife, and even more so, not to provoke its disintegration. And unfortunately, such a danger always exists. So, I guess I've already fallen behind schedule. Friends, unfortunately, I see many of you here for the first time, so I will point at you. And do not be offended. I will simply point with my finger. And if it's not too much trouble, please introduce yourselves so that I can at least address you somehow. Let's start with you, since you are closest. Please, hello, Dmitry Anatolyevich. My name is Georgy, and I am a bright example of friendship among peoples. Everyone thinks this is a fountain, but in reality, it is me. My father is Armenian, my mother is Georgian, and my grandmother is Russian, and I myself was born in Georgia, in Tbilisi. And in 1995 year, when the war began, we moved to Moscow here to our acquaintances who had arrived here a little earlier, had already settled down, and organized such a mini-dormitory. That is, it is a two-room apartment for 8 people, small children, well, in general, rather difficult conditions. But I wanted not to tell you about that. On our stairwell, in the neighboring apartment, lived a Russian woman, Bavrita. And seeing how difficult it was for us, she decided to help us. She rented her apartment to us, despite the fact that her surroundings, her relatives, reproached her for saying, 'Why are you helping non-Russians? Why are you renting your apartment to them?' And despite this, she rented us her apartment. We lived in this apartment for several years, and the whole family is grateful to her to this day, and we maintain relationships, communicate. And here arises the question: why did she help us? I think, you know why? |
| 4 The Soviet Everyday Ideal and the American Example | |
Full house translation — pending review Just a normal person. That's all. And I think simply. Also, if you allow me, I think she lived in the Soviet Union and was raised in those times. And then there was no division by nationality. There was one single Soviet people, and every person, well, had some kind of internal understanding of unity, a feeling of this unity. And this is very important because now some heads of former Soviet republics are behaving quite incorrectly and are conducting anti-Russian propaganda and politics. And to one of such you bit on the teeth. We respect you for this. And probably someone else should also get a bite there. But thanks, they will get a bite. They played on the national question, there they inflated one nation, they humiliated another nation. And here, what I would like to say to you from myself: you never played this card and treated everyone equally. And this is very important for me. And I believe that thanks to people like you, I live in peace, we live in peace, and this is very valuable. And I just wanted to say thank you to all people, from all nationalities. This is my speech. I have no questions. I just wanted to thank you. Thank you, Georgy. But since you didn't have a question, I will still comment. Please sit down. Unlike you, I grew up in the Soviet Union and I was indeed raised in such conditions. This was true. Maybe someone among you will believe it, maybe not. When we had very calm, absolutely harmonious relations, not only in my family. It's not hard to believe. In school and even in university, there were plenty of comrades from different places: from Georgia, from Azerbaijan, from Kazakhstan, from Uzbekistan. Of course, from Ukraine, Belarus. The national issue never came up. This is probably hard to imagine now. Probably it's not a model to strive for, but at least any society, any state in which very different nations live can be internally balanced and not based on police actions, on bayonets, but simply because that's how it was perceived in the Soviet Union. There was a lot of very bad things in the Soviet Union, and in the area of national relations. One cannot close one's eyes to this. Many nations were, in essence, destroyed. This is also true. But some mechanisms, those that were, maybe in the 70-th, 80-th years, and most importantly, this ideology that was present at that moment, not at a high level but at the everyday level. It was absolutely correct. I always look there, across the ocean, where there is also a multi-national state, although it's not as complex. I mean the United States of America. And this transformation that they went through. If you remember 40-50 years ago, Americans had a very problematic society where, in general, quite significant categories of people were offended and humiliated. They don't know what for, for their own will, energy, for the fact that their leaders correctly fell into place. Something else too, but they managed to go through this stage despite the fact that they had a very heavy heritage, as is known, abolished quite late, and so with us, in our country. And now, despite everything, their society in principle is sufficiently harmonious and all kinds of attempts at division are suppressed in every way because this is extremely dangerous. This is exclusively dangerous. Now we need to try to synthesize those reasonable things, both from the Soviet times and the global experience accumulated in terms of coexistence. But the fact that in some former Soviet republics what is happening now, I will tell you honestly, simply astounds me. Sometimes I read various materials coming from there, materials that intelligence agencies prepare, various ciphers, incomprehensible to everyone how one can try so hard to set one's own people against other citizens. As a result of this, a colossal outflow of population: Russians come to Russia, other nations leave for other places. This is an example of the criminal use of the national card, and one of these examples is well known to you. Unfortunately, it has gone beyond the cold phase of confrontation into open war, into conflict. Therefore, whoever acts in such a way will run into trouble. We need to make it so that this topic does not exist for us at all. Please, let's you hello. My name is Zhekin Victoria, a student at RGPU of Oil and Gas. I have my own interethnic history. I am Russian myself, but this history directly touched me. I live in a dormitory. In the dormitory, there are guys of different nationalities. On one floor, girls and boys can live. This is not bad, by the way. We all communicate very amicably. My immediate neighbors: on one side, Chechen boys; on the other, Russians. And once such an incident happened that unexpected guests started pouring into our room. They were strangers, in a terrible condition, started causing a ruckus. The girls and I were at a loss, didn't know what to do, called for help, but for some reason no one heard us, although everyone was walking in the corridor, but somehow it happened that no one noticed us. The Chechen guys, the guys that some groups of people want to separate from the Caucasians, noticed them, heard them, came and helped us. They simply drove out the unexpected guests in a moment. They helped us a lot. We are very grateful to them. Good job. And we felt safe. So I want to ask: if we separate peoples, even if we imagine that they can be separated, people expelled, how can I be sure that tomorrow someone will come to my aid? Why can I be sure that my children will be safe? I have such proposals that we need to somehow clash people of different nationalities. We have a bunch of made-up stories. Why do you think it is dangerous for all of us to communicate together? I think we need to break stereotypes, communicate, be friends, live together. That is correct. Better to break stereotypes. Marriages concluded between different nationalities are also good. Thank you. But Victoria, you know, I understand your question as I see it. You asked it tactfully, in a feminine way, but it can be formulated otherwise. In our society, there are different moods. One of the moods is contained in a simple formula: 'Enough feeding the Caucasians.' So what follows from this? You know, the consequences of such things, such things. slogans They are absolutely predictable Only again those sitting in this hall Their may not fully represent But Such statements are usually made by Either people who are not very smart There are plenty of them naturally Or outright provocateurs Because Just recall What happened in our country Then general In the end 80-s I remember all these conversations About that enough feeding Central Asia Enough feeding Ukraine Belarus Baltic States The country fell apart into pieces We had a very difficult period 90-s All separated And what we do not feed them Feed Only in a veiled form Anyway our partners, they one way or another receive our support. |
| 2 Migration, Ethnic Crime, and Public Backlash | |
Full house translation — pending review And, perhaps, this is in some way justified. But the economic power of our country has changed substantially; it has diminished. And our current unity, for what it is worth, is paid for with the blood of a huge number of people, those who created a single country, a huge number of generations who strove to develop good relations, friendly ties, created joint marriages. And now the attempt to divide everything into parts is a very shortsighted attempt. |
| 5 "Stop Feeding the Caucasus" as a Dangerous Slogan | |
Full house translation — pending review Yes, they say, well, there is not enough money for anything, but, for example, in the Caucasian republics, large subsidies are going to the Caucasian republics, they receive grants. This is also nonsense, in the sense that these grants go only to the Caucasian republics. I will remind you that we have 83 regions, and only 11 regions are donor regions, they do not receive grants, while the remaining 72 regions, they all receive grants. That is confirmation. They are drained from the federal budget. |
Full house translation — pending review Therefore, our problem is not in the money spent on the Caucasus, but in the lack of culture and skills for living together, in the unwillingness to listen to each other, in the lack of human conditions for life. This is the real problem. And, finally, we should not forget one more thing. You gave a domestic example, it is good. Our comrades, who... Were raised in the Caucasus, have an acute sense of justice and a desire to defend women. Something that, by the way, has been lost in our part of the country. |
Full house translation — pending review And such Caucasian pride does not allow a woman to be insulted. But that is everyday life. There is also something else. At the end of the 80s, in the beginning of the 90s, when our country fell apart, all kinds of extremists, not ours, foreign ones, flooded us. And, unfortunately, they are still causing us big problems because they found their apartments in some Caucasian republics, and not only Caucasian ones, and in the center of the country as well. |
| 3 Strength Through Unity of the State | |
Full house translation — pending review So here it is, the bastion in the path of international terrorism, which may sound surprising, this is also our Caucasian republics. They help. They help us all in the fight against international terrorists, of whom, unfortunately, there are very many, and who come from well-known states. And this also needs not just to be remembered, but to be valued. Therefore, our strength lies in unity, and we must not allow anyone to destroy it. That's it. So, let's alternate like this. Boys, girls, men, women. |
Full house translation — pending review Alright, guys, let's give it to you. Hello, Dmitry Anatolyevich. My name is Strugushkov Alexey. I am an employee of Ruduin. I just want to smoothly transition to the question. The fact that I myself was born into a large family, I have six sisters, four brothers, and, so, I grew up... One could simply envy. I grew up in a multi-ethnic village, and, so, everyone respected each other there, and, so, this later helped me. That is, when I came to Moscow, I met my wife, my wife is African. Oh wow, hello. |
Full house translation — pending review And after three years of marriage we already had two children born. Wonderful. APPLAUSE Excellent. Take a photo. You've already had two children, or is this... No, not two, I can't see, this... Yes, two, two, two. A boy and a girl. A boy and a girl. Well done, congratulations to you. And I have a question. We... What is your wife's name? Nadraha. Nadraha. Nadraha. She is African herself, a Muslim, that is, we... That is, she is a believer, I am also a believing Orthodox Christian, and we freely coexist, despite the fact that we... |
Full house translation — pending review That is, of different races, different... Different races, different religions. I love her, and I don't need another wife. APPLAUSE Great. And I want to say that... Regarding the maternity capital question. The fact that we wanted to use the maternity capital specifically for purchasing, that is, housing or at least a plot for building a house. And when we turned to Rais-Abbes, they told us that until the wife obtains citizenship, we... |
Full house translation — pending review That is, we are not entitled to grant maternity capital, because currently my wife is a student studying on a state-funded basis, and if, for example, she changes her citizenship, as in another state university in Russia, she will be transferred to a commercial form of study. And I would like to ask whether there are any changes in the legislation to... APPLAUSE personal, relating to your wife? APPLAUSE You know, I think you understand everything. |
Full house translation — pending review Of course, maternity capital, it is maternity, not paternity. That means we came up with this. I consider it just because the main mission is still the woman's. The man's contribution is very significant, but it is slightly less. APPLAUSE That is the first point. Second, naturally, that this maternity capital is paid to citizens of the Russian Federation. And third, if your wife is ready to become a citizen of the Russian Federation, I am ready to help with that. ] |
Full house translation — pending review [APPLAUSE] So, well, let's look in this direction now. We see each other often. So, that means, well, okay, let you go. [APPLAUSE] I can't do it any other way. I can't do it any other way. Yes, yes, you, you are exactly right. No, here is the girl. [APPLAUSE] Please send the microphone. And over there, send this microphone. Good afternoon, Dmitry Anatolyevich. My name is Aina Gageva, I am from North Ossetia. By profession I am a journalist and have been working in journalism with children from rural areas of the republic for two years already.] |
Full house translation — pending review For the first time, I encountered the issue of interethnic relations while working in Beslan with children who were victims of the terrorist attack. I found a simple solution. The training curriculum was supplemented with lessons on the history and culture of the peoples of the Caucasus. The children enjoyed this and it diversified the program. Dmitry Anatolyevich, I have a request for you. When you are in North Ossetia or in the North Caucasus or somewhere nearby, could you conduct a master class on Twitter for my students? ] |
Full house translation — pending review APPLAUSE APPLAUSE I don't know if I'll manage. I do understand something about this, but I'm not such a brilliant specialist. But since you're inviting me, Anna, that means I'm ready to try conducting a master class on Twitter. And not only on Twitter, if necessary. I decided yesterday to settle in Facebook more closely. APPLAUSE And now I'm watching how... APPLAUSE ...watching how to further establish myself on VKontakte. |
Full house translation — pending review Because as soon as I announced that I decided to work more actively with Facebook, I immediately started receiving messages saying, how can you not be ashamed, this is an American social network, so you support all kinds of Zuckerbergs. And we have our own network, VKontakte. APPLAUSE Leave the address, so I'll come to Ossetia, I'll try to conduct a lesson, or at least... APPLAUSE ...give, so to speak, information, maybe just send some of myself to your guys, so to speak. They will be very grateful. Thank you. |
Full house translation — pending review Good news. APPLAUSE So, I promised you, please. Dmitry Anatolyevich, hello. My name is Rakhankov Musa. And I am that Chechen boy who moved to Moscow with my family in 1995 due to the start of the war. And here I encountered such a problem as enrollment in school. That is, parents bypassed several schools where we were refused for understandable reasons, because there were such moods. Moods or for formal reasons? They said there were no places, but in reality they were letting it be understood. |
Full house translation — pending review And simply the war was going on, and everyone knew about it. And subsequently a person appeared, our future director, this is Sidorov Evgeny Anatolyevich, who not only accepted me and my two sisters into the school, but also throughout our studies resolved all kinds of problems that arose on a national basis. |
Full house translation — pending review That is, simply put, someone there was insulting me, I responded, there were some clashes, fights, we were taken to the director, and he would sit us down, and without taking anyone's side, he explained to us that we are children, we have no nationality, that we must be friends and not listen to what is said on television, that Chechens are bad and someone is good. And he explained this to us so well that even now, I graduated from school many years ago, with several of these guys... What do you do now, Musa? I am a product manager. Understood. |
Full house translation — pending review And even now I communicate with some of these guys, we maintain relations. And he did this not for me personally, and not for these guys, he did this for our country. And I consider that he is a world person. And, Dmitry Anatolyevich, award him somehow, if possible. Good. Thank you. He is the school director, right? Yes. What school? Secondary school. Number? 694. You know... Thank you. Thank you. What you told, in general, unfortunately, is quite a typical thing. |
Full house translation — pending review And it is related, of course, to what the situation was at that time. I cannot say that it is now significantly better than last year. But still much has changed. New problems have appeared, but much has changed. But what you said about the school director shows not just that he is a wise person, but that he is a brave person. After all, it is not about what one can get for this or something else, right? But it is about the fact that people react to this very differently. After all, it is very easy... |
Full house translation — pending review To gather laurels, win, that is, some... To gather authority on a nationalist topic. Well, this nationalist topic always falls on well-prepared soil. And not only in our country. And in other countries as well. There are their own problems there, you know. And in Europe, and in Asia, and in Africa. Problems everywhere. And even in China. And... And when a person falls into such a situation, it is very important to have inner strength not to succumb to the mood of a large number of people. |
Full house translation — pending review Sometimes even a fairly large crowd that demands someone be lynched or destroyed. Which says that this one is bad. He has hair of another color. Faith is different. That is why... To confront such a situation, one needs a certain set of internal principles. And the fact that your former school principal behaved that way shows that he is both a good teacher and a good citizen. And the more such teachers there are, the stronger our country will be. But we need such teachers. Not only in Moscow. But also in Grozny. ] |
Full house translation — pending review In Makhachkala. Well, in all other Caucasian republics. And in other territories of our state. Which correctly assess the place of the teacher. There. And as for your director, I have seen enough certificates. So. That means, I promised, so, honestly, to waver back and forth with the party line. Well, yes. I told the girl that... One boy and one girl. Please, to you. Hello. Dear Viktor Anatolyevich. Hello. And hello to everyone around. I am actress Maria Kozhnikova and a member of the public council of the Young Guard. |
Full house translation — pending review I wanted to say first a little bit specifically about professional activity. And then move on to solving the interethnic question. I am an actress in the series 'Univers'. I think many know it, have seen it. Right? APPLAUSE. And I hope, Dmitry Anatolyevich, that you have seen it too. Perhaps briefly. Although I understand if you haven't, you have very little free time. Well, certainly. If you haven't seen it, then you haven't seen almost anything. Yes. Our success, in fact, was because we were an interethnic company. ] |
Full house translation — pending review We have a producer, Artur Djenabekyan, an Armenian. The screenwriter is from Kazakhstan, Vyacheslav Dosmukhamedov. And one of our main actors is also an Armenian. Specifically, with my heroine. He has love. We quarrel, we make up. But specifically we, through television, speak about the fact that it does not matter what nationality you are, it matters what kind of person you are, in the end, we do not choose who we are born to and whose. APPLAUSE. |
Full house translation — pending review We all learn about this world from parents, textbooks, newspapers, magazines, the internet, and television, which is the most significant mass media. And recently, somewhere 60-70% is indeed bringing negativity. Anger, aggression, murders, bloodshed, thefts. And I think that soon, if this continues, we will simply even hate each other within the same nationality. We are very connected... And we, excuse me, Maria, had such a period. And let us remember the civil war. |
Full house translation — pending review We hated each other, as you say, precisely within the same nationality. That is true. We are very connected to mass media. And, unfortunately... Recently, we are not taught tolerance and kindness, and respect for each other. I propose developing an ideology that will help mass media. We can start this with some children's programs, where children of different nationalities will communicate with each other, share their customs and language. |
Full house translation — pending review And through this, learn about this world. We must, we are, and the new generation will grow up in respect for each other, respect for the surrounding world, and for ourselves. And, Dmitry Anatolyevich, you have already spoken about America. And although I, a patriot of my country, believe that we too have much to learn. I will give such an example. Thank you. My close acquaintance studies there in school. There, different races undergo training. And they indeed have tolerance lessons. Just as teachers teach them. And through life. |
Full house translation — pending review An incident occurred there when a chubby boy sent a photograph of an already adult woman, so to speak, with such large figures, and wrote. This is your future. The parents of this girl came to the school, and he was expelled. And no pleas, tears, or bribes helped him. Because we have no right to insult or humiliate each other. And I believe that... And I believe that we must definitely develop this dialogue. And please support this, if possible. Thank you, Maria. |
Full house translation — pending review I also have a fairly skeptical attitude towards many values that come, for example, from America itself. But I cannot but continue what you are saying. In the sense that, regarding this very tolerance, there is something to learn from them. Yes, even people mock this. We all read such discussions, posts on the internet, saying that they have completely lost their minds with their tolerance, that they are blowing on water. For example, the one you mentioned, or, for instance, other examples related to skin color, race, nation, language. Well, I... |
Full house translation — pending review Sometimes it really seems strange. And then you start thinking, in this matter it's better to overdo it. Better to overdo it. Yes, sometimes it seems strange and even funny. But there are no conflicts. And they treat this so tenderly, and on the other hand they apply the force of law. They can exclude from school, from university. Simply hold accountable for improper handling. That's it, I think. This is still an advanced level of culture. Even though it sometimes seems so strange. |
Full house translation — pending review Now regarding what you said about the media. The media are very different, you know this yourself. Perhaps no one knows this better than you. Everyone looks for what they want to watch. I am not in favor of regulating everything and anything. On the contrary, I remember that time when you turned on the television and the same thing was on all channels. No matter how much our television is criticized now, it is still different television. It differs greatly from Soviet television. But there is indeed a lot of violence on television. Perhaps too much. ] |
Full house translation — pending review This is explained simply. They watch it. The most expensive advertising, naturally. Journalists are present here. Those connected with this profession. It is placed in such films, in such series. Naturally. But I think that heads of mass media should also have some internal position on this matter. Everything should be there. But there should still be some positive dimension. There should also be crime series where people run around and shoot. But this should not be endless. |
Full house translation — pending review Because otherwise there arises the feeling that our entire life consists only of this. This, by the way, applies to news as well. Although, of course, our life is very complicated. A mass of heavy events occurs. But we with you understand that if you construct the video row in this way, unpleasant events happen every day. Someone dies, someone is killed. Life is life. And in principle one can make news in a montage only from these events. But if this will be every day, then we understand in what world we will find ourselves. |
| 9 Media Responsibility Without Censorship | |
Full house translation — pending review Because this is simply a mood that you receive through the television screen or in some other way. Once again I emphasize, under no circumstances must anything be forbidden. This is a question of measure, taste, culture of the heads of mass media. After all, if you want to see something special, there are discs for this, there is the internet for this, you can get and see everything you need, everything that you like. And another topic, about which you said, the modern world is very mobile and very global. |
Full house translation — pending review And the property of adapting to the world, I think, is the property of the modern person. Here is the problem, for example, related to the arrival in Moscow or to some other cities of guys from the Caucasian republics? Or on the contrary, from the center of Russia to the Caucasus? The problem is that often the arrivals come, based on the fact that they are ready for everything, and the best representations of how one should behave, are with them themselves. This is exactly the lack of culture and understanding of how we should live. |
Full house translation — pending review Every time when we come somewhere abroad, we are, now we have already become more prepared in this sense, we try to behave so as not to stand out from the people who live, for example, in this state. Why? Because it will be inconvenient for us to be pointed at for some reason, to say, oh, what uncultured, they talk loudly, walk not as they should, dressed not as they should. Moreover, it does not matter about which country it is talking, European, Muslim, Eastern states, Pacific. |
| 8 Adapting to Place and the Duty of Newcomers | |
Full house translation — pending review In different countries. And we consider this to be correct. On the other hand, being at home, we for some reason behave differently. We often behave provocatively. Again, it does not matter where this happens, in Moscow or in the Caucasus. People who come here consider that they must behave absolutely the same as at home. But they are not at home. They are at home in the sense that this is our single country, but it is a different country. And this, I think, is the key thing. One must try to correspond to the place one has come to. |
Full house translation — pending review This does not mean that you must forget who you are. To give up your appearance, your faith. No, certainly not. But you must tune into a positive wave and try to act approximately as the overwhelming majority of the population around you does. And then you will not create problems for yourself. Not for them. The ability to live in a global world, to adapt to it, I think, is a property of any modern and cultured person. Yes, I wanted to say it, but I did not say it, because I think it is known to everyone. |
Full house translation — pending review So, now we are moving in this direction. Well, you have already stood up. I cannot seat you. It is impossible. Please. Hello, Dmitry Anatolyevich. In my opinion, I can speak a little about America because I moved from America to Russia to live. Therefore, perhaps I am an expert. Thank you. But I need to say, to contradict a little, that there is no racism in America. Everyone on the street tells me that there is no racism, how can you live in Russia? But this is a myth. It is a complete myth. I know this for sure. ] |
Full house translation — pending review But, on the other hand, that which united many Americans. Especially from Europe. This is ideology. They all love the Constitution, the American dream, and all that. Seriously. They think the Constitution is like Jesus. And the creators of the US are like his apostles. And in the USSR I was not, I cannot say. But in the USSR there was still the Soviet people. Maybe many did not believe. Maybe they thought communism was stupid. But there was the Soviet people. But now we have Russia. |
Full house translation — pending review And in America a person says that I am Irish-American, French-American, German. And in the USSR I was Soviet. And now we can say that I am Russian-Georgian. I am even Russian-Russian. This is illogical. What can we do? What ideology can unite all of us who speak Russian? Thank you. You absolutely correctly noted one thing. There are no perfect countries and perfect states, perfect societies. Those who say, we have no crime, we have no corruption, we have no racism. They are all lying. |
Full house translation — pending review Because, unfortunately, all these phenomena exist in any society. The question is how society responds to this. And what is the motivation of a specific person. If society hides these problems under the table, then corruption and racism become increasingly all-encompassing. And if society openly opposes this, reacts firmly to certain phenomena, but at the same time gives an answer, at the same time allows people to develop, then this society becomes more modern. We talk a lot about America today. |
Full house translation — pending review We talk specifically because America was different 50 years ago. And this is a good example. Not in the sense that we must turn into America. Russia has its own path, of course. But simply over 50 years American society overcame a huge number of stereotypes. Although there are still enough problems. We also need to overcome this. But not in 50 years. We do not have that many years. We are developing very quickly. And we have our own problems. |
Full house translation — pending review Including problems related to the terrorist acts that were committed in the Caucasus. Currently, unfortunately, they remain in our lives. Therefore, we need to solve this problem as quickly as possible. As for ideas. I think we are all modern people here. In any case, I would like to hope for this. There can only be one thing. Every citizen of our country should feel like a citizen, in fact, of a single state, in which there is a single community. |
Full house translation — pending review We did not like this word during the Soviet period. But, in principle, it is correct. APPLAUSE Even during the Soviet time, about this, perhaps not everyone knows here, such a theory arose. A single community – the Soviet people. If we create something similar, but on other foundations, then that is, in fact, what we need to strive for. After all, you know well life in America. Every citizen of the United States of America feels like what? An American. That is the main thing. So, I believe that we must go exactly towards that. |
| 7 A Single Civic Identity Above Ethnicity | |
Full house translation — pending review Every citizen of any state must, first and foremost, feel themselves as part of a large country. And secondly, so to speak, in the second place, they must feel themselves as a representative of one or another ethnicity. Because, if it is otherwise, the state falls apart into pieces, if other considerations are put forward. I think that this is very important for all of us to realize, regardless of where we live, if we want to preserve a united state. |
Full house translation — pending review And only in a united state can there be a prosperous life. So, now again. Let's, let's you, well, please. First of all, good afternoon, Dmitry Anatolyevich. My name is Katsarsky Mikhail, I am a graduate student at the Law Faculty of the Russian State University for the Humanities. I came to you with a proposal. And, since such an opportunity has arisen, I want to voice it. Here is what I propose. |
Full house translation — pending review Create some kind of body, at the head of which you will be directly, in whatever capacity, president or chairman of the government, and... But still some significance this has. I just wanted to emphasize that... Just if I am going on pension, so to speak, this does not please you very much. No, I just wanted to emphasize that your personality, your attitude, appeals to me, and I see in you closeness to the youth. I like this very much. |
Full house translation — pending review And let this be some kind of prototype of a round table; as a person with a legal education, we are colleagues, let this be something... On which department? Constitutional law. Constitutional law? Yes. Here. And let this be organized in the form, perhaps, of a federal agency, and let its members be representatives of various national minorities, peoples, who will raise issues. Well, just as we are now. |
Full house translation — pending review I think that such meetings are useful, and if this enters, so to speak, if this becomes done constantly as a matter of course, then it will be wonderful in general. In fact, this is my proposal. Mikhail, of course, I am ready to create such a small forum of representatives of different nationalities, peoples. This is absolutely normal. But it may be even more important for the president, for the chairman of the government, for any federal official to be in different places and communicate with ordinary people. |
Full house translation — pending review All the time, whenever I go somewhere, information about this leaks out. So first they write, here, Medvedev has arrived or will arrive, they will show Potemkin villages again. So then you try to change the route, so you go somewhere, they say, no, well, they have prepared everything there anyway, so he came in, they mowed the grass, painted it, boarded up the entrances, demolished buildings, put up fences so he wouldn't see. Why am I talking about this? |
Full house translation — pending review Because it is very important that during trips to various regions any official communicates with those who represent different social groups and different nationalities, understanding how they live and in huge Moscow and in relatively small cities and even in settlements. Although usually, strangely enough, the smaller the city, the fewer problems, because all people see each other, know each other, and there is no place for interethnic clashes. And in megacities, unfortunately, the situation is different. But one needs to travel and communicate. |
Full house translation — pending review As for your idea, I will think about how to organize it. The most cunning ones, girls and boys, just stand up immediately. Well, please. Girl-boy, we have two boys. Yes, I will leave from this. We go this way. Please, I beg you. My name is Kateryna Lysenkova. And I work as a researcher at the Maxim Bogdanovich Museum. We have such a Belarusian culture center. You know, often groups of schoolchildren come to us from 1 to 11 grade, the most various. |
Full house translation — pending review And so, in order to introduce them to Belarusian culture, I ask them. Mostly Russian boys come. I suggest they recall a tradition. These are traditional calendar folk holidays. Everyone knows there are many among the Russian people. In fact, there are more than twenty. How many holidays do you think they recall in number? How many? They recall a maximum of three holidays. Which ones? These are Maslenitsa, Kolody, and Ivan Kupala. ] |
Full house translation — pending review That is, in essence, these are Russian people, Russian guys, who do not know their own Russian culture. And do you know what they know about Belarus? That potatoes grow there. That is basically all. This is the first association. No. Also, that Lukashenko is working. But the most advanced cinephiles also know that there is the Brest Fortress there. But this is the limit of knowledge. So, this is what I am talking about two nations that have historically lived side by side, close together. We have always had very many connections. ] |
| 10 Culture, Cuisine, and National Heritage | |
Full house translation — pending review But unfortunately, the matter is that we currently lack a mechanism for broadcasting this folk, national culture. It is those people who work in the museum who broadcast it. It is clear that I work there. Young people come to work there. Not for money. They work there for the idea. Because it is important to me that my culture be known. I want them to become interested, in the end, in their own culture. You will agree, this is fair. Because the guys who come to us subsequently become interested. ] |
Full house translation — pending review They are not only interested in Belarusian culture. They begin to be interested in their own. Well. After all, I agree, of course, every job has its own price, its own cost. But I think that if you were offered to do your work for less money, you would still not refuse. Correct? You are right. But the matter is that a person considers something important. I consider my mission to teach, to convey, as important. Therefore, even if my salary were not 5 thousand, as it is now, but 3 thousand, I would still work there. And that's it. |
Full house translation — pending review The matter is that there are many such people who need to be taught and who want to learn. And us, those who go there to work, alas, there are not so many. I think this really needs to be changed in some way. That is, the salary really needs to be raised. Thank you. Ekaterina, thank you for what you said. Of course, many people, who in our country, and not only in our country, but in neighboring countries, work in museums, in some social institutions, in fact, they are simply pioneers. |
Full house translation — pending review Because, as you correctly said, they work for an idea. Moreover, perhaps they sometimes think so loftily, but they consider it their duty. That they must do this. And carry all this all their lives. And regarding the fact that we are lazy and inquisitive, unfortunately, in many ways you are right. Because in recent years a certain subculture has emerged, in which we are all immersed. And this is not bad, because there should be one communicative language. One code of communication. And if you master it, you communicate with different people. |
Full house translation — pending review And with 20-year-olds, and with 80-year-olds. And the more universal this code is, the better. But this does not mean that we should forget about our roots and should not integrate their roots, culture into ordinary life. Especially since it is so interesting that when you immerse yourself in it, you cannot tear yourself away. And some surrogates, on which we are already, in fact, raised, and to which we are accustomed, they seem secondary. Do you understand at all where something originated. Well. |
Full house translation — pending review In this regard, the role of museums, theaters, and libraries cannot be overestimated. The most important thing is that this assessment is given by people and the state by increasing the salaries of employees of these institutions. Oh, so much. Okay. Well, please, if you wish. If it's life and death, I cannot refuse. Thank you for the opportunity to speak. My name is Chesnokol Edward Atakovich. It so happened that my native father is ethnically Czech. He lives there, in the Czech Republic, in the European Union. I could have left Russia, obtained citizenship, and lived there. |
Full house translation — pending review But I will never do that. Because here, huge prospects open up for me. Including thanks to the modernization policy that you are conducting. But there is a problem. I found my father 3 years ago. And it was a miracle. He is 63 years old. He is a pensioner. And he has a pitiful pension that is paid to him in the Czech Republic. But I cannot freely go to him. And he cannot freely come to me. Dmitry Anatolyevich, under your leadership 15 countries have canceled visas for us. |
Full house translation — pending review Including such a country as Israel, Serbia, all of Latin America. And for this, thank you very much to you. Dmitry Anatolyevich, perhaps we can resolve this issue with visas, right? Between Russia and the European Union. Oh. Edward, it's a pity you weren't there. I just arrived directly from the Kremlin to you. I met with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte. If you had spoken so passionately at the press conference, he would have had nowhere to retreat. Dmitry Anatolyevich, I am ready to speak. He is indeed a pretty good guy. I am ready. |
Full house translation — pending review Ready to help us. But nevertheless. Thank you. Visas. Of course. This is what hinders communication. And when I, for example, discuss this topic with my European friends, regardless of where they are from, including from the Czech Republic, they all shrug their shoulders and say, well, of course, we understand. Well, the main problem does not come from you, not from Russia. Well, perhaps 10 years ago there were some problems there, but now there are no problems at all. We have our own problems within the European Union. We are fighting with each other there. ] |
Full house translation — pending review So, there are different countries there that have not fully adapted to European life. And with you, everything is generally good with us. I tell them, cancel the visas. And here begins a complicated story. Well, we are ready, but not immediately. So, step-by-step, as I was told today. In my opinion, this is a shortsighted position. Because the more we communicate with Europeans, the same ones, with countries of the European Union, the better. The better the atmosphere will be in our united Europe. |
Full house translation — pending review Because without them, it is unlikely that we will be able to carry out modernization as quickly as you said. Thank you for the kind words. Without us, they cannot develop either. Because Russia is a state that supplies not only energy carriers, but also intellectual products, a significant portion of which is used in Europe. Therefore, we are absolutely connected with each other. And the sooner we... If partners understand that they must think as you do, then it will be better for all of us, and for Russia, and for countries of the European Union. |
Full house translation — pending review And I hope that you will indeed be able to realize your dream and visit your father. Thank you. Honestly, it's already an hour, yes, I will give you my word, so let's agree on this, I as an honest person have been talking for an hour, I really need to start leaving, nevertheless, I will ask two people here and two people here, okay, and let's consider that everything will end today. So, honestly, so, boy-girl, let's you, and then you, please. Hello, Tatyana, Grozny city. |
Full house translation — pending review Actually, in fact, yes, I have been living in Grozny city since 2003 year. I came to Moscow. There to work as a teacher and, in fact, never regretted it. At first, when I arrived, of course, I knew no one, I was taken into a Chechen family, helped me adapt. What do you teach? What is your subject? Russian-English, but now I already work at the radio, in fact, here is what I want to say. In fact, on my own eyes since 2003 year and so on the city was being restored, thank you very much for this. ] |
Full house translation — pending review Here, in Grozny, all conditions have now been created. To work normally and live comfortably, Russians have started returning, as evidenced by this example. Two years ago, a woman from Moscow named Katya came to Grozny deliberately to marry a rugged Caucasian man, and she did marry. Did she marry? Yes, she did, and she is raising a son, quite normally. Indeed, we truly love and value Russians, as evidenced by a very recent case involving a Russian teacher, whom one official wanted to fire. |
Full house translation — pending review Well, quite unjustly, but the entire school staff stood up for her, got her reinstated, and the official was fired, as it were. That is our way. Yes, that is it. I, of course, adapted, but I would like to ask you a question. How can the issue of the return, the mass return of Russians to Chechnya, be resolved? I agree, in general, that it is good to help people who decide to come here. You know, even you... |
Full house translation — pending review Even your appearance already helps, because you are a living example, not some virtual character, but a living example of a person who works in Grozny, who came not from Chechnya, and who simply came there to work and is satisfied with his work. So, how can one help? In my opinion, it is very simple. One needs to restore normal life in the Chechen Republic. For this, indeed, much has been done. And the fact that Grozny has changed, I consider this very good. |
Full house translation — pending review Yes, some like skyscrapers, beautiful buildings. Some ask, why were these done? But symbols are also important in our lives. And I consider it quite good that a new business card has appeared. Because people need not only money, but also for there to be some positive things around when you walk, go about, or rest. And what was the state of Grozny? We all remember. And those who today say why so much money was given there, let them look at the picture from ten years ago. There it is. |
Full house translation — pending review And the more openly we conduct ourselves, the better. Therefore, the number of Russians in Grozny, in the Chechen Republic, in other Caucasian republics depends directly on two things. On the position of the republic leadership regarding the attraction of specialists. Without them we cannot do without, we all must migrate. Yes, so that is it, on the position of regional authorities and on the creation of normal conditions for life and work. On the spirit that exists. And your example, it shows exactly this. I wish you success. |
Full house translation — pending review Good afternoon, Dmitry Anatolyevich. First of all, I would like to thank you for agreeing to meet with us. Primarily from the Azerbaijan Youth Association of Russia, AMOR. I have, in principle, such a question. What is your name? My name is Gasanov Farid. I am a student of the Russian Customs Academy. And in the future, I see my future here. I studied here, finished school. University. Currently, I am getting a second higher education. And in the future, I want to go into the customs structure. |
Full house translation — pending review And I am in close contact with people who work in this organization. I have a request for you, so to speak. Everyone knows that almost half the country's budget comes from the Federal Customs Service. The most awkward thing here, essentially, is that employees of Moscow Customs, where I want to begin my career, receive around 17-18 thousand rubles a month in Moscow. The quarterly payments are small too. I would like to ask whether this issue could be addressed. |
Full house translation — pending review Because in Moscow, unlike in other regions, this may be a normal amount, but in Moscow it is very difficult. And therefore, in principle, this honor of the customs uniform, the customs officer's name, and everything related to customs has been completely destroyed. Because there is a lot of negative stereotypes and all that. This... It's shameful for the state, right? Yes. Because first and foremost I consider myself a Russian. And I have such a second request. I... My sister and I have long been citizens of Russia. |
Full house translation — pending review My parents and I received permission for temporary residence. Only not for unclear, so to speak, reasons. They are not given either a residence permit or citizenship yet, although it has already been three years, no matter how much we try. I would like to ask, can you help in this matter in some way. But my first question is the most important one. Understood. But regarding the second question, simply, if you have coordinates, leave them. I will just give an order to check what the problem is if all rules are followed. Farid, understood, right? By parents I mean. |
Full house translation — pending review Yes, yes, yes. Just write your coordinates. So now regarding customs. Not exactly, so to speak, a topic, perhaps, of our today's conversation. Although, on the other hand, why not? Customs indeed brings a significant part of revenues to the federal budget. And it is a useful organization. Especially we are today in that period when a customs union has been created, uniting three countries. And now we have a single customs authority located along the perimeter of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. |
Full house translation — pending review Therefore, the service should become more and more developed in this sense. So, the fact that customs officers receive a small salary is, of course, bad. Why? Because, indeed, in Moscow these incomes are insignificant. And let us look straight at the truth. And the level of corruption in customs is beyond the limit. Beyond the limit. This does not mean that we need to immediately say that all customs officers are bad, all take bribes. But what you said is indeed the main contradiction. One cannot call for honesty, purity, |
| 11 Governance, Corruption, and Regional Accountability | |
Full house translation — pending review wearing a uniform to responsibility and paying money that does not allow to live normally. Because we thereby provoke people, naturally, to a understandable behavior. I think that we will also get to customs. Because I considered it correct to first start with the militia and police. Because there the income level was even smaller. And problems, probably, even more. Therefore, starting next year our Ministry of Internal Affairs employees will receive another salary. Which allows to demand from them a little bit different. |
Full house translation — pending review And fire them. Already without any, so to speak, guilt of conscience. And hold them accountable if necessary. But also apply this to customs. This situation must be corrected. You are right. Thank you. So, I promised two people here, two people here. Guys, well, it's hard for me to choose among you because all of you want to speak. So, it doesn't matter to me, but others will probably also say a few words. Please, one of you, one of the two. Okay, fine. Then both of you speak. And we'll finish with the girl. |
Full house translation — pending review Please. Dmitry Anatolyevich. My name is Nigmatullin Ail, and I am a Bashkir national. I grew up in a small Bashkir village that doesn't even appear on the map, properly speaking. Doesn't even appear on the map? Not at all, yes. Only on specialized ones. Now I am studying at one of the leading universities in the world and Russia. This is Bauman Moscow State Technical University, second-year student. In 1999 your comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin came to power. Then you came to power. |
Full house translation — pending review It turned out that the entire period of my studies and admission coincided with the term of your leadership. And it is this that I associate with the fact that I was admitted, like many guys, thanks to your policy, thanks to the fact that indeed many guys would not be studying in universities now if not for the Unified State Exam. And on behalf of all students who, like me, came from such villages of various nationalities, I want to say you a big thank you. But I have a question, it's a bit off my story. |
Full house translation — pending review I fully agree with your policy. It seems correct to me. But in a number of regions of the Russian Federation they are not implemented. Especially in the Republic of Bashkortostan, where I am from. And there, the national policy is discredited and reduced to nothing. This is my opinion. I am telling you as a native resident from the inside, who sees this problem. And now... What does this consist of? |
Full house translation — pending review It boils down to the fact that very recently, under the previous leadership, our region in Bashkortostan was considered one of the most peaceful and calm. There are many nationalities living there, and they always lived in harmony. Now, from nowhere, a great many terrorist groups and so on have appeared. That is the first point. Second. Now, very recently, under the new leadership in Bashkortostan, provocative websites have appeared and have begun working again, sowing interethnic discord in our region. |
Full house translation — pending review And to you, I am addressing myself as the president of our country, so that you take something specifically concerning our region. Because I am a simple resident who sees the whole problem from the inside. Thank you. Thank you very much. First of all, thank you for the kind words and for what you said. Thank you for what you said about my period of work. You know, of course, as for any person, this matters to me. I would lie to you if I said that I do not care what you think and what you tell me. That would simply be dishonest. |
Full house translation — pending review Second, I am very glad that you came from a village that is not even visible on the largest map. Why? Because it is very important that boys and girls from the most different places study in Moscow. Because there are plenty of talented people among us, both in Moscow and in the provinces and in small villages. And it is very important to create such conditions when people coming from the hinterland, like you, can enroll in leading universities of the country, like Bauman, the same one where you, as I understand, study. |
Full house translation — pending review I consider, by the way, you may disagree with me, that now it is very fashionable to criticize the unified state exam. I do not know who among those present took it. But I consider that this is nevertheless a way to make it so that those from the provinces get to study in capital universities. Applause is then counted as support. So that this happens honestly, without bribes and bribery. Now regarding the situation in Bashkortostan. Well, you know, of course, I am so, in general, sad to hear such kind of reasoning now. ] |
Full house translation — pending review Because I believed that the current leadership of the republic is indeed trying to solve complex problems. If you tell me about this, it means that not everything is going as it should. I know that in a number of regions of Bashkortostan, extremist structures have proliferated. If you think this is news to me, then of course, that is not the case. I am regularly informed about this by the FSB and other law enforcement agencies. They need to be pressed. Why? Simply because these people want us harm. They want to destroy our common home. |
Full house translation — pending review And do this ruthlessly. Because if we cannot protect ourselves, we will break apart, fall apart like a patchwork quilt. In Bashkortostan, the ethnic composition is complex. People count it differently. There has always been a tricky arithmetic, by the way, in this sense. But we all know that Bashkirs live there, Tatars live there, Russians live there in close proportions. And there are masses of other ethnic groups. And this is exactly an example of a republic where it is very important to observe interconfessional and interethnic peace and to skillfully build national policy. ] |
Full house translation — pending review Therefore, what you told me is an additional reason to analyze the situation in the republic and how it is governed. Thank you for that. Please. Thank you very much, Dmitry Anatolyevich. Allow me to answer the question you raised at the beginning. I fully agree with you that the best means against interethnic... What is your name? Tigran Manosyan. I teach at the Historical Faculty of MSU 'History of Armenia' and am a member of the Union of Armenians in Russia. |
Full house translation — pending review I firmly believe that the best means of restoring normal honest relations between different peoples, nations, and communities is the most ordinary dialogue. And I am the simplest example of that. I have been living in Moscow for more than 20 years, practically since the collapse of the Soviet Union. And you know, on the territory of Russia I have never encountered Armenians and Azerbaijanis dividing something or arguing about something. This happens, unfortunately, on the territory of Armenia and Azerbaijan directly. |
Full house translation — pending review It is truly very sad for me to say this now. But, you know, that stereotype in me was broken. There was no such strong stereotype in me, but, however, when people constantly buzz about the fact that, for example, Azerbaijanis mean something is not right and so on, I want to say that I understood this thoroughly in my third year at the historical faculty of MSU. When my history teacher of Azerbaijan, Agaki Shiev, alone gave me a five for the history of Azerbaijan, who is an ethnic Armenian. Well done, Sasha. |
Full house translation — pending review Another example. I was once at the military commissariat, and sitting next to me was a man about 50 years old. He looked at me like that. 'Are you from the Caucasus?' I said, 'From the Caucasus.' 'From Azerbaijan?' 'No, from Armenia.' And he said to me in Armenian, 'I am too.' I said, 'Well, you know, you don't look very similar.' He said, 'Well, I am an Azerbaijani.' And we talked for about 30 minutes, we just chatted. And he asked me how things are in Yerevan, how the House of Soviets, which was then, stands. |
Full house translation — pending review I said, 'You know, unfortunately, it was destroyed.' There was despair on his face, in fact, that he would never see this building again. And you know, Dmitry Anatolyevich, I would like to ask you, if you allow, on the eve of the visit of the President of Armenia. Well, I think it is foolish to ask whether Russia will continue to contribute to development. Of course, it will. I don't know, it is foolish to ask. Then why are you asking? If you allow, such a question. |
Full house translation — pending review And what specific actions will be taken in the future regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict? Because we very much want this conflict to end soon. Thank you. Tigran, well, you gave an example with a man from the military commissariat, I have other examples, they are very interesting in general. I communicate a lot with the President of Azerbaijan and with the President of Armenia. |
Full house translation — pending review And it is remarkable that the entourage of both presidents, naturally, gets along very well with each other, and President Aliyev and President Sargsyan, and easily switches from Azerbaijani to Armenian, from Armenian to Azerbaijani. This simply happens before my eyes. Moreover, this is, of course, a secret moment, but I hope, and Sergy Azatovich, and Ilham Gendarich will not be offended with me if I say that they get along well with each other. When we sit together at the table, they communicate very well. |
Full house translation — pending review But there are real difficulties. There is history, there is a different understanding, of various legal constructions, there is, finally, a different set of interests. Russia, undoubtedly, will help in regulating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. You, probably, know, I have done quite a lot... I have done a lot to make the presidents meet and discuss this topic. And this work will certainly be continued. But I can say a simple thing. |
| 12 Foreign Policy — Visas and the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict | |
Full house translation — pending review In the end, the resolution of this very complex, but I am absolutely confident in this, solvable problem depends on the good will of two peoples and two presidents. If they will listen to each other, hear each other and move a little towards each other, find compromises, everything will work out. I am absolutely confident in this. This is exactly one of the few frozen conflicts on the territory of the post-Soviet space and even in Europe as a whole, which, in my opinion, can be solved. Dmitry Anatolyevich, I have already given the microphone. |
Full house translation — pending review Please. Good evening. My name is Snezhana Saifulina. I was born in the Republic of Bashkortostan in the city of Oktyabrsky. By nationality I am a Tatar. I just wanted to address the previous speaker. I possess other information on the national question. I live in Moscow, in the heart of our great motherland. But all my relatives, they are in Bashkiria. I visit there very often. And before, indeed, my relatives, they complained. Here, Murtaza that, Murtaza so. ] |
Full house translation — pending review Now with the arrival of the new president of Bashkortostan, who, as far as I know, is a United Russia member, it seems everything has changed. And, at the very least, there are no such problems anymore. Well done. There are no problems for the guys who are Russian. There are no problems for the guys who are Tatars and want to enroll in BGU with admission. Because before, really, if someone's surname ended with Lina, like Fushnulina or Saifulina, they were not taken. I'm not even talking about a Russian surname. It really was like that. But with the arrival of the new president, this issue has been resolved. ] |
Full house translation — pending review So thank you for that. It's already good. There is an alternative position. In turn, I would like to talk again about Tatarstan, about Tataria. I would like to open a house of national Tatar cuisine in Moscow; that is my dream. I want to consult with you, not just with the president, but as a fan of Tatar cuisine. Yes. I love Tatar cuisine; it is good. Excellent. To consult. Is there any point in opening such a house of national cuisine? ] |
Full house translation — pending review There will be halal meat, there will be no alcohol, and there will be only national dishes. Is there any sense in this as a business project? Good. It is pleasant that you consult with me as a person who understands business. So, Snezhana, let me say what I want to say. Well, first of all, please sit down. I am glad that you have some other information. Nevertheless, I will still give an order to find out what our colleague just said. ] |
Full house translation — pending review Every leader, moreover, always has both stronger and weaker sides. And one must admit, both the former leaders of the republic and the new leaders of the republic, they behaved loyally towards the United Russia as a whole, if we are talking about our party. The question is about the effectiveness of management. And that can be assessed differently. I, by the way, will speak frankly, extremely frankly, there is different information. There is absolutely positive information, that is what you are talking about. And there are problems after all. ] |
Full house translation — pending review This is also true. But there are no problems only for those who do nothing. Now I am answering your global question about opening a Tatar restaurant where there will be halal meat and no alcohol. I believe that this is absolutely a good idea. Because restaurants, and in general, well, such places where people spend their leisure time, they should be different. Why should they all be different? Because they will be cut to the same pattern. But I can tell you frankly, for example, I love Italian cuisine. Well, good, tasty, all. |
Full house translation — pending review But in our country, most restaurants in Moscow are oriented towards Italy in one way or another. Well, this is such a global trend. Well, I think this is not quite good. Moreover, always, I act as follows when I travel abroad, it is very simple. And then, when I traveled as an ordinary tourist, and now, when I travel as a president. Some moment is given, I go to a national restaurant. Because where, if not in this place, can one feel the soul of people, the soul of the nation. Well, of course, there are beautiful places, there are various kinds of museums. |
Full house translation — pending review But it is often simply impossible to go there, because there are various considerations, security, need to close, and so on. And one can always visit some small restaurant. And after that one receives a developed understanding of how people live. Because the language of cuisine is understood by everyone. Well. I believe that your idea has a good business beginning. But for this it is necessary to find those who will implement this project together with you. And also. About what I did not have time to say. |
Full house translation — pending review The more such places there are in Moscow, where from 12 to 15 million people live, the most various places. Places that represent our huge country and our peoples, the higher will be that very level of tolerance, the level of mutual understanding. Because when, for example, a person of another faith, another nationality enters such a restaurant, he is forced, even if he is not ready for this, to be influenced by the culture, to understand how people who sit in this restaurant represent the world, what their traditions are. |
Full house translation — pending review The only thing that must not be done is to impose anything. That, I think, is absolutely correct. One must not force people to strictly follow their habits. That is always unproductive. Whatever those habits may be. But there are habits. Very good ones and not very good ones. But in any case, one must not engage in mentoring. That. That, I also think, is very important. Okay. Dear friends, any meeting is interesting only if it ends on time. I have once again broken my promise. |
Full house translation — pending review We have been talking for an hour and a half. I hope that you have not quite gotten bored. I will definitely finish. Do not be offended. One can pass on. Please. So, we will finish. And I want to say a few words to you. So, thank you all for coming here today. And for telling us about your feelings about life in our country and in other countries. Thank you for being such reasonable people. Thank you for being calm. For understanding the complexity of life in our country. |
Full house translation — pending review And the more there are those who relate to our state, to our multinational motherland in this way, the better it is for it as a whole. Because after all, open hearts always help people live. And hatred very rarely leads to positive results. Yes, we must be tough, sometimes making extremely unpopular decisions. And I, as president, know that. But at the same time, if we talk about the fate of our country, then its future, its well-being depends on only one thing. |
Full house translation — pending review In the ability to listen to each other and live together. To value each other and love each other. I wish this for all of you. Thank you. Thank you. |
